The Power of Showing Up Every Day (Even for Just 15 Minutes) [VIDEO & TRANSCRIPT]

Hey,

Did you know that the biggest difference between a beginner and an expert isn’t talent or natural ability—it’s consistency?

When I started out, I was constantly jumping from one method to the next, trying to find the “perfect” way to improve. But I realized that the true key to growth was simply showing up each day and practicing with intention.

Consistency in practice doesn’t mean long hours every day. It’s about creating a routine that works for you and committing to it—whether it’s 20 minutes or an hour. That’s how true improvement happens.

When you consistently practice, you don’t just build muscle memory—you start developing a mindset that tells you, “I can do this, and I’m getting better every day.”

Here’s How You Can Start Building Consistency:

Create a Set Time: Block off a regular time each day for practice. Treat it as a non-negotiable appointment with yourself.

Start Small: Don’t overcommit. Start with just 20 minutes a day if that’s all you can manage—just make sure you show up.

Focus on One Thing: Instead of trying to do everything at once, focus on one aspect of your playing each session (scales, a piece, technique, etc.).

Track Your Progress: Each time you practice, take note of what you worked on. It’ll help you see the growth over time and stay motivated.

Remember, progress isn’t always about being perfect—it’s about consistency. The more you show up, the more you’ll grow.

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s email, where I’ll share some of my best tips for overcoming performance anxiety and preparing yourself mentally for the stage. You won’t want to miss it!

Best,

Granville Mullings, Jr.
